Property Insurance Road Adjuster

We are currently looking for an experienced Property Road Adjuster to join our team in the GTA and London area - someone who is a team player, who will go the extra mile to exceed customers’ expectations, and who will represent our brand with the same professionalism and pride in which we founded our company.

The Role:

You will be responsible for providing the efficient and prompt investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of moderate to complex property claims in accordance with Company guidelines and best practices.

  • Investigate, appraise/scope, confirm coverage, negotiate settlement and recovery, and conduct reporting and documentation of claims in accordance with established guidelines and meet production targets in line with company expectations.

  • Ensure the accurate and efficient payment of claim.

  • Support company goals by participating in after-hours rotation, back-up needs and/or catastrophe situations.

  • Meet production targets in line with company expectations.

  • Ensure reports are completed with accuracy and within established timelines

  • Mentor and support junior Adjusters, as requested by Management.

  • Work collaboratively with Managers on special projects and assignments when required

  • Travel on short notice to support DSB’s catastrophe response plan

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of residential and commercial property adjusting experience with an IA, TPA or Insurance Carrier.

  • Post-secondary education or a combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Licensed and CIP, FCIP or CRM or working towards certification.

  • Commercial Property and General Liability claim handling experience an asset.

  • Strong working knowledge of the principles and practices related to claims settlement, policy wordings, insurance contracts, fraud investigations, serious losses and coverage questions.

  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple demands and changing priorities.

  • A valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.

Insurance Claims Advisor

We are currently looking for a Claims Advisor to join our team - someone who is a team player, who will go the extra mile to exceed customers’ expectations, and who will represent our brand with the same professionalism and pride in which we founded our company.

The Role:

The Claims Advisor will be responsible for coordination of all claims received through various channels. This is a client service role that will interact extensively with various parties involved in the claim process including Brokers, Insurance companies, Insureds, Adjusters as well as team members. In addition to claims intake and reporting support, this role must represent itself as a Claims Partner and advocate for the Broker client to ensure a successful claim experience.

Claims Intake/Setup/Reporting

  • Intake of all new incoming claims through email, telephone contact or after-hours assignment and set up into DSB and Broker systems.

  • Create First Notice of Loss (FNOL) and distribute to appropriate reporting channels within established timelines.

  • Complete 24-hour reports in accordance with DSB and client expectations.

  • Follow up as necessary with Insurance company regarding report submission, assigned Examiner and all relevant contact information.

  • Maintain electronic information, diaries, and time entries in systems as required.
    *Provide final reports for Examiners and prepare claims file for closing.

  • Receive and coordinate payments applicable to the file as needed.

  • Maintain daily access in the telephone queue in accordance with DSB expectations.

  • Distribute claims information via email, fax, web submission, and/or telephone in accordance with the Broker Claim Services Agreement and DSB protocols.

  • Adhere to and maintain file diary schedule in the Broker operating system. Diaries for all claim setup must be kept current and relevant at all times (includes calls that do not develop into a claim).

  • Adhere to system / telephone standards and achieve and maintain performance /productivity metrics.

  • Maintain regular contact with Carrier, Adjusters and Examiners by telephone or email to obtain open claim status information and access DSB electronic file and Broker operating systems concurrently; support the Adjuster in keeping the client up-to-date.

  • Manage all incoming claim correspondence from Carriers or Adjusters to update the status of claims. Incoming correspondence and or documents must be input into the Broker operating system and cleared within 5 days of receipt.

  • Provide Management Reports for corporate office and Broker Accounts as requested.

  • Other duties as required in order to support the team.

Claims Advocacy

  • Advise, guide and answer questions on the claim process to the Broker Client through telephone/email contact or in-person.

  • Through contact with Carrier Adjuster/Examiner advocate for the Broker Client regarding the process.

  • Respond to Broker Client calls received directly following claim setup and answer questions on behalf of the Broker.

  • Advise and make recommendations in accordance with licensing parameters and Account instructions.

  • Other duties as required in order to support the team.

Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 years of insurance adjusting industry or broker claims experience an asset.

  • Post-secondary education or a combination of relevant education and on-the-job experience.

  • Prior experience in customer service environment required.

  • Actively pursuing CIP designation preferred or willingness to enrol in and complete the CIP curriculum within the specified FSCO timeline.

  • Strong English oral and written communication skills; Mandarin an asset.

  • Working knowledge of Auto/Property adjusting and claim adjudication process an asset.

  • Proven ability to have an empathetic telephone manner, professional communication skills and mannerism throughout a telephone call experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage changing priorities and proven organizational skills to plan, review and follow-up to prioritize tasks. Planning must be done to handle deadlines, peak periods and/or unexpected situations; a sense of urgency is essential.

  • High attention to detail

  • Demonstrated behaviors showing initiative and follow-up skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated professionalism and work ethic.

  • Reliable, ‘roll up your sleeves’ attitude, and do-er with a willingness to contribute in support of the team.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (i.e., Email, Word, Excel) and ability to learn various systems.

This role requires flexibility with working hours between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday to Friday to accommodate hours of operation for the telephone queue and may also be required to support changing conditions, customer demand, and business needs.
Due to COVID, the role currently is working from home however post-COVID the role will be a mixture of work from home/head office/onsite at Brokers office.
